Frequently Asked Questions.
Your Lake Service Questions, Answered.
How do I determine the right hoist size for my boat?
Start with the dry weight of your boat and add the weight of fuel, gear, and passengers to ensure you select a hoist that can handle the full load.
What is the difference between Duralift and ShoreStation hoists?
Duralift hoists feature a steel frame cantilever design, while ShoreStation hoists are aluminum frame vertical lifts. Both offer optional side curtains for added protection.
What is open flow decking?
Open flow decking is designed with cut-outs to allow wind and water to pass through, reducing resistance and improving stability.
Do I need to contact Midwest Lake Service each season?
No, once you’re on our service list, we automatically schedule your seasonal dock and hoist services unless we hear otherwise from you.
When do canopies get installed?
For steel hoists, canopies can be installed as soon as the hoist is in place. For aluminum hoists, canopies are installed after the boat is in the water.
Do you offer hoist storage?
Yes, we store hoists both during the season and in the off-season.
Do you offer late-season removals?
Yes, we work with fishermen and marinas to accommodate late-season removals as boats are taken out of the water.
